Mitochondrial dysfunction is a common feature of both inherited mitochondrial disorders and neurodegenerative diseases. Although these disorders differ clinically, many converge on shared underlying pathobiology, including oxidative damage, impaired mitochondrial homeostasis, and defective mitochondrial quality control.
